I've enjoyed playing with some digital painting and using watercolour textures in Photoshop. So here's a little fantasy and princess bubblegum to start the year.
This week's weekly art challenge theme was fanfiction. Decided to dive into Adventure Time and model out BMO, the adorable game machine. Converting such a 2D style to 3D would certainly be interesting to do for some of the other characters.
Still need to add a few textures for the side details and facial expressions, but it was
good to churn out a quick cute model on a Sunday night :)
One of the more amusing processes in creating a character. I particularly love the melted sock monster that emerged. Should be finished tomorrow and ready to animate.
Anthony the lecturer mentioned there is in fact a stretchy spine under maya plugins, but i'm quite happy with how this guy is moving and stretching so far. Added a little fur to give him a scruffy look, pics soon :)
Well, terrible weekend over I can finally get back to work (and there is a sure good lot to get done!)
Firstly, my hard-surface Manta-ray ship thingamy is well and truly complete.
Also, a few quick concepts for character modelling and rigging, in Anthony's class (which I hear is coming up soonish.) I don't know which I'll do yet.
Also, I have storyboarded 23 pages and created a very drafty animatic. So far 3 mins long, though I feel some parts need removing, some bits are missing, and all of it needs to be slowed down a lot. So the animated short is making SOME progress.
And a few quick 3d prop concepts. I think I'm going for a grimms-style bridge.

Note to self:
When one is sick, one shall not determinedly go to work. One shall stay home and get better. Also, saying goodbye to the pet that you grew up with is like saying goodbye to family. And even more difficult when you have to choose when. Rest in peace Sparx, you lion-hearted cat.

Hello and Welcome!
This here is the very start of Animated Thinking - a blog to document the creative journey of my final year at Central Institute of Technology. Besides documenting my production process I am also going to explore the who-what-why of animation history, technique, alongside my own influences and style.
I will try to keep as visual as possible and explore all perspectives. So here it is, my introduction.
